Maryland Communication Center Conference Table
10' diameter x 29" H, cherry, white oak, satinwood, holly, makore, ebony.

The table is a circular design to encourage communication from all attendees interested in bringing business into Maryland, similar in concept to knights of the round table.  The resulting large central expanse of wood is broken up by cutting a void through the center of the table in the shape of the trefoil cross as seen in the Maryland State flag.   The sides of the void are veneered with the colors and patterns of this unique flag.

On the face of each of the four pedestals supporting the tabletop is an inlayed bellflower.  The bellflower was a decorative inlay of cascading buds found on furniture legs during the Federal period of design.  Furniture made with a unique long stemmed bellflower gave claim that the piece was made in Baltimore.

Halogen lights in the ceiling pierce through the Maryland cross voids in the tabletop and provide the resulting shadows and trefoil pattern on the floor.
